Thanks to your support, 2006 was a great year

The wonderful Arts+Events Team at the World Financial Center in NYC invited us to perform " Isadora and The Dancing Goddesses of NYC". We did two magnificent shows, lunchtime, and evening performances.

We were invited to perform MOVING KIDS SALONS at the Children's Museum of Manhattan, where we shared the story of Terpsichore and The Dancing City (which is New York City, of course) and danced with enthusiastic kids from ages 2 on up.

As part of our commitment to fellow artists we
offered space grants to choreographers Jessy Smith and Sydney Skybetter to create new work which they have been performing around the city.  We also teamed up with our theatrical friends at THE CULTURE PROJECT and our dance friend Andrea E. Woods, of Souloworks to offer a month long series of FREE workshops called POLITICAL MOVEMENT/DANCING TO BE HEARD. We hope to continue with this project in 2007 nurturing the work into performance.
REWIND 2006 SEASON (part 2) ENDING WITH GODDESSES
Christine with the women of HAPI
Here are the inspiring goddesses of HAPI at New York's Riverside Church in November 2006. These dedicated women are home healthcare workers, they spend their days caring for others - tending and nurturing.

I was honored to be invited to lead them in a Celebration of Dance Workshop. It was part of a special day of appreciation for their dedicated efforts at work.

CJ/MAPs NEW WRITING FEATURE - WINDOWS INTO TERPSICHORE - FOCUS ON LIZ LERMAN - "Small Dances About Big Ideas"
About Liz Lerman-SMALL DANCES ABOUT BIG IDEAS-

"Liz Lerman has been told that she would never get any critical support because she isn't confrontational. It is something she was told long ago and it has stuck with her. "But I want to keep them in the theater, not chase them out", she says during a question and answer period after last night's show, " I love this". (She is referring to the sense of community one can feel after a shared theatrical experience.)

In her, " Small Dances About Big Ideas" Liz was commissioned by Harvard Law School to dance about Human Rights Law from the Nuremburg Trials forward. My first question: "Has there ever been another commission like this?"
